Synopsis:
NEW BEGINNINGS AT THE CHALET SCHOOL, by Heather Paisley, is a sequel to Elinor Brent Dyer's Chalet School series, set three years after The Prefects of the Chalet School.
Jack Lambert is the new Head Girl and like many a Chaletian before her is apprehensive about her new responsibilities. Len Maynard has also joined the staff as languages mistress and confesses to Joey that she is scared about her first attempt at teaching. Then we have new girl Charlotte Stevens who comes to the school with the idea that her parents have sent her to boarding school because they do not love her.
Len soon finds that she enjoys teaching and Jack to her surprise is able to cope much better than she had expected though the middles are up to their usual tricks.
Charlotte however is out to create all the trouble she can. Her work and health both suffer till Joey finally takes a hand. Her behavior and work improve, but she is still miserable about her parents and finally gives everyone a shock by fainting on the hockey field.
In the meantime, Con who is now pursuing a writing career develops a romantic relationship. The family are all set to celebrate when Joey suddenly suffers a near fatal car accident.
