The Old Girl at Lac Leman, is actually an Old Girl of St Scholastika's. Winnie Silksworth left before the two schools joined forces, but she recognises Nancy Wilmot, Miss Annersley and Mdlle de Lachennais straightaway. She is living in Montreux with her husband Martin and seven sons.
She is also able to tell Biddy O'Ryan and Nancy Wilmot that she knows of Nina Rutherford since Nina's late mother was Martin Embury's cousin. The meeting with Winnie has one other unexpected consequence: viewing how much weight Winnie has put on over the years, Nancy Wilmot vows she will ask Jack Maynard for a diet sheet!
Nina has been granted the use of Joey Maynard's piano at Freudesheim when the school pianos are otherwise in use and wondering how to repay Joey for the kindness, Nina hits on the idea of composing a small piece to mark the arrival of Cecily Maynard into the world. 'Welcome to Cecily' is a charming air and Joey counsels Nina to continue writing music.
Nina's efforts at composition are given another public airing, this time when Mary-Lou finds a discarded manuscript under a desk and submits it to The Chaletian without asking Nina. Even the confident Mary-Lou is a little nervous of Nina's reaction when the finished copies of the magazine come back from the printers, but is relieved to find Nina is actually very grateful.
The 'Old English' Sale is a great success, especially as Old Girl Tom Gay has managed to build a magnificent doll's house once again, even though she is now up at Oxford.

Elisaveta, the former Crown Princess of Belsornia, comes to Switzerland
to lives. She performs the opening ceremony at the Sale.
Beth Chester - is nanny and mother's help to Joey, but there are hints
that this may not be so for long. She is given to blushing wildly at any
talk about her future.
