Joey and Patricia

Many of you will have enjoyed reading Helen McClelland's "Visitors for the Chalet School", which HarperCollins reissued in 2000. Ever since first reading the book, people have wondered what happened to its heroine, Patricia, when she grew up, and the New Chalet Club Committee was exultant when Helen said that she was thinking of writing a sequel.

In the last days of peace, Patricia visits the island of Guernsey where she meets the newly-wed Joey Maynard and her sister Madge who is about to reopen the Chalet School. In the course of the story, both Patricia and Joey make important decisions that will affect the rest of their lives.

Helen McClelland writes:

This story represents something I never intended to undertake, having always steadfastly refused to consider writing another Chalet School story! But a flattering number of people have asked whether there could be more news of Patricia Davidson, the leading Grange House character in VISITORS FOR THE CHALET SCHOOL; and a few months ago, when glancing through EXILE, it struck me there was a possible way of engineering a further meeting between Patricia and Joey. The idea of developing these two characters as young adults quite appealed to me; and JOEY AND PATRICIA is the result.
