The New Chalet Club was formed in May 1995 and has a quarterly Journal, and occasionally has a supplement on a particular subject. The Journal often includes a section run by, and for, our school-age members, "The Chalet School Today".
Local meetings of Chalet fans are held throughout the U K and elsewhere, and are publicised through our quarterly publication, The New Chalet Club Journal. This is printed in December, March, June and September.
The club holds its A.G.M. every year in mid-September to early-October, and also arranges one main event at another point in the year. As the majority of our membership is in the U K, these events are held in the U K, but our non-U K based members also hold their own mini meetings.
We have an elected committee, and even held a ballot to choose the club's name. The name is a logical extension of The Chalet Club, which Elinor M. Brent-Dyer herself ran between 1959 and her death in 1969.
In line with the club's Constitution, the club's elected officers stand for a three-year term of office. They can, of course, stand for re-election for a second term, if they want to at the end of the three years. Elections as well as nominations are done by post which means that every member has the opportunity to take part in the process irrespective of where they live.
Our membership year runs between 20 September and 19 September, unless the member opts for the half-year subscription option, which is available to anyone who needs it. This option covers either the December and March Journals and mailings, or the June and September Journals and mailings, and is exactly half of the annual fee.
As well as the Journals, we have a range of merchandise on sale to our members: postcards, colour notelets, pens, pencils, sweat-shirts, poloshirts and T-shirts in a wide choice of colours and sizes.
